I started this site as a way to give back. I'm a career and learning consultant with almost 15 years of experience in helping people decide what they want to do with their careers and then coming up with a plan to get there.

My consulting practice is doing well, despite the poor economy and I wanted to give something back to people who aren't as fortunate as I am, so I started this site. You can read more about why I started Career Commons here.

Dan, I think your blog is awesome. Just in a few posts I got some great links I'd never seen before. I don't think that you've been hard sell at all in renaming your blog or in how you're selling yourself on your blog--I think you've found a great b…

Michele, It seems that this group has quieted down. I joined back in February when it looked like my job was ending. I fortunately got a year's extension and drifted away. Now that I am entering my last six months of salary, it is time to start push…

Hi, Michele
Looks like you have some very worthwhile information. I plan to share your site with many of the people with whom I worship. Our church held its first Dream Jobs workshop last month and I am going to do followup on the 6 people who were there. I know at least one man has a promising interview this week and one woman has a new job (independent of the workshop). All in all, I commend you on taking the opportunity to give back. I will definitely remember your offer of assistance if the eventuality arises.

God bless you and all who arrive at Career Commons

Hi Michele,

Thanks for setting this up. I don't really have much right now, but you always have such practical ideas that I wanted to follow and participate in the community. In this climate, I don't think anyone's job is really safe, so it's a great idea to pull together to prepare for the worst and help each other out along the way.
